    Hi guys,

I have a HP Pavilion DV5137eu laptop and I'm thinking about upgrading it a bit. Does anyone know what kind of CPUs my laptop supports? Currently it runs on a AMD Turion 64 ML-32. Specifications can be found here: link.

I've looked everywhere but can't find any upgrade info. Thanks! :)

You can upgrade your processor. I am not 100% sure which socket your laptop uses. The ML series were offered on socket 754 and socket S1.

Can you please download CPU-Z, and upload an image of the cpu and the motherboard tab.

I can tell you without a doubt that the ML-32 (Lancaster core) is a socket 754 processor. There are no ML processors that use socket s1.

If evolution is right, which he probably is, that means you can upgrade your processor to any of these:
    ML-34 (1.8GHz, 1024kb L2, 35 watt)
    ML-37 (2.0GHz, 1024kb L2, 35 watt)
    ML-40 (2.2GHz, 1024kb L2, 35 watt)
    ML-42 (2.4GHz, 512kb L2, 35 watt)
    ML-44 (2.4GHz, 1024kb L2, 35 watt)
    MK-36 (2.0GHz, 512kb L2, 31 watt)
    MK-38 (2.2GHz, 512kb L2, 31 watt)
    MT-32 (1.8GHz, 512kb L2, 25 watt)
    MT-34 (1.8GHz, 1024kb L2, 25 watt)
    MT-37 (2.0GHz, 1024kb L2, 25 watt)
    MT-40 (2.2GHz, 1024kb L2, 25 watt)

If I were upgrading from the ML-32, I would look at one with 1mb cache, so probably a ML-44, or a MT-40

Look on hardforum, here on nbr and ebay or cheap processors. Any in that list should be under $50

All but 2 of these processors will work, the MK-36 and MK-38 are part of the newer generation single core turions (so they actually use socket s1). :)

Therefore all ML and MT processors would be compatible with the ML-32.

Its good we have a turion expert. I have only used AMD desktop and server chips. Their naming scheme is much easier to follow

    Here are some CPU-Z images:

Looks like Evolution is right. Thanks for the help guys, I'll see if I can find something on ebay. :)
