I bought a HP Pavilion G6 w/ i3-2350M for $500 and I want to see how good the battery life is on this test I ran.

    0h0m : 95%

Chrome open with 2-3 installations in the background, skype in the background, Bluetooth Adapter on. About 75% brightness.

Browsing the net, a few Youtube videos, three reboots, scrolling through a PDF.

Mostly continuous use with 3 5-10 minute breaks in between.

    3h50m : 10%

Is this decent battery use? Below average? Once I start using this thing heavily the battery probably won't last long, I'm guessing? Thanks guys!

I mean some programming, Photoshop, continuous typing with Excel, Word, Notepad++, FTP servers, emailing, maybe some gaming. And does that mean my battery is decent enough or should I be considering another laptop?

Your battery will probably be draining a lot faster doing all those 'heavy tasks'.
Gaming especially will easily kill it extra fast.
Internet browsing and light office work is all you can expect out of the battery if you want it to last you about as much as it did now.

Yeah, my notebook gets easily over 8 Hrs (HP DV7) battery life with 16GB RAM and an SSD and a Hybrid HDD installed on 'light' use.

When I fire up PS CS5.5 and/or LR4 I can barely squeeze 90 minutes out of it. This is normal.

Depending on your specific PS workflow, I would not expect much more than an hour from such a system.

    Good luck.
