    Hi.

I have an HP Pavillion ZV6000, It's running at stock speed right now (AMD 64 3200+) 2 Ghz. I wanted to know if it was possible to upgrade the CPU. I read online that it can take up to an AMD 64 4000+ and that the soket size is a 939, but then I called HP and asked if it was upgradable, and they said no. They told me that once a laptop is set at a certain speed, it can't be changed or upgraded. Is that true? Or is it possible to still upgrade?

You'll void your warranty. If you want better perfromance, I would suggest upgrading the hard drive and memory before the CPU.

As posted by zazonz, you can upgrade, but doing so voids your warranty.

The Athlon 64 3200+ is a very fast processor, why do you want to upgrade if I may ask?

I just wanted to push my notebook to its max, but I guess you guys have a point. I looked on the manual, the CPU's going to be under everything. So anyone know of a good reliable HD to upgrade too? I was thinking about the HITACHI Travelstar 7K60 7200RPM 60 GB HD with 8MB cache, but what i was wondering is would you rather choose RPM over cache, or vise versa?

If you already have 512MB of memory, I would do the hard drive 1st. Hitachi has moved onto the 7k100 drives so the 7k60 is an older version. You can get the 60GB 7k100 for $130 on ZipZoomFly.
