I want to upgrade my laptop's memory from 1 GB to 2.5GB

My laptop contains two slots, each with 512GB ram. I thought of buying a 2GB ram and replacing one of my old rams.

    I checked www.crucial.com site, the auto-detect failed, and I couldn't find dv6291ea, so I just went with dv6000 series

It says each slot can hold not more than 1GB!

dv6000 series laptops don't support more than 2GB RAM. But someone told me that upgrading my bios will solve the problem... Is that true? I couldn't find any helpful info in HP site about this issue... And, if I upgraded the bios, will one slot be able to hold a 2GB RAM?

Yeah, the dv6000t series notebooks should support memory up to 4GB as long as you have bios version F.25 or newer. Hp updated the bios to fix issues with 2GB modules. Looks like the crucial website hasnt been updated since, so it might still be showing the old limits. Check the HP support section to update the bios.
