    Hey,

I am looking at this good deal from compusa for 800$. This has 99% of the things I am looking for in a laptop. (go7600, 1 gig of ram, although ill make it two).

My question is: Will this be able to upgrade to santa rosa dual core, or is that not possible? Thanks for the help.

No, the Santa Rosa platform has a Socket P, so it's incompatible.

ah thank you, do you think it is worth it to wait until the end of summer (beginning of sept) to wait for something better to come along, or should i grab this now. I would like to have santa rosa, but its not necessary. Is it worth waiting for?

Also i know this is the wrong forum for this but is there any idea when sp1 for vista comes out?

if u think santa rosa is gonna give u some super fast CPU that'll run circles round the laptop you are currently looking to buy then you will be disappointed. the santa rosa CPUs are 800fsb but the RAM remains at 667 so the performance gain is slight. it will have longer battery life but not performance leaps.

the video card maybe better to some extent but no1 knows which video card will be in the dv9500t.

sp1 vista could be out before the end of year, i dunno myself though.

if u can get this laptop for a good price, go for it but if not then maybe waiting will do u some good

I think waiting will end up doing me good, but will the 9500t have the santa rosa core?

Well i could get it by today for 800$ but i feel like investing in "old" technology is not beneficial for my needs. I would like this laptop to last a few years, hopefully the next 4.

The other problem is it isn't core 2 duo. i feel like the core duo is at the end of a dying breed.

Also, this deal has been appearing on and off for the last month or so, if i dont get it today, i could decide to get it later.

read the articles, thats the reason there is a 9500t, cuz its the new santa rosa BUT it only coems with the intel graphics for now

dont get it, nothing wrong with waiting, there will probably be other deals who knows
