    Hi all,

I own a HP TouchSmart tx2 with the following configuration:

    Processor: AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-74 2.20 GHz
    Internal Memory: 4 GB
Windows 7 64 bit Operating System

What I need to know is the largest CPU that could be used with this laptop. Also would you recommend upgrading to 8GB memory?

I use my laptop approx 12 hours per day as the internet is my job hence the need for speed and I really do not want to buy another laptop.

All answers and suggestions appreciated :)

neither upgrade will yeild 'faster internet'.

if you want a upgrade improve your productivity improve your internet connection.

PS, I own the same machine, and I LOVE it. I can't wait untill I get the chance to install Win 7 on mine.

Edit: if you want to upgrade it the fast cpu is I believe is the [email protected], the ram at this time would be pointless, and not to mention it would cost more than your laptop is worth.

hmmm. not sure if they will work at all really... I just know the chipset should support the ZM-86/87, I don't know what family the ZM-88 is in, if it's in the puma family it should also work.

    Edit:
just so you know the ZM-87 on ebay is about the same cost as a 86
    87: http://cgi.ebay.ca/AMD-Turion-x-2-U...99QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCPUs?hash=item5d26c7fd83
    86: http://cgi.ebay.ca/AMD-Turion-x2-Ul...40QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCPUs?hash=item3efa5f2240

maybe it would be worth call HP to see if they know if this will work. sometimes they know, sometimes they don't...

Edit2: by the way at some point I'll also likely update the CPU in this machine as well... maybe the ZM-88 is worth waiting for if it will work.

Not sure which family it's in. So the ZM-87 should be ok as well? and if so do you know the diffirence between the 86 and the 87 because I can't find anything on google with regard to this.

    thanks

    robmax,

if you have multiple browsers open, each with multiple windows, then the only way 8GB of RAM might help you is if you set up a RAM drive as the browser's temp location. But, boy, you must really love your internet to spend $$$ to do that!

But then again, if you're spending 12 hours a day on it, it may pay off for you?

If you have a USB or other internal storage card (SD Card, etc.) that is fast enough, you may want to try eBoostr (try the beta 4, much better than the shipping version 3).
