I've had my tx2 for a while now, and i love it, but recently (past week) when i wake up and turn my laptop on, the monitor shows two lines horizontally and a portion of the screen (2/3) is unusable. RIGHT from start up this happens. The screen lights up completely, and the all pixels work, but the 2/3 that doesn't work is just random lines, as if the monitor was broken or the wiring was screwed.
I've owned a TX1000 or w/e it was called back then, and i had a problem where after about 2 weeks of use, the monitor connection was physically destroyed. I had the same symptoms; the monitor had lines all over it, and the screen was totally screwed. I opened up the connection area and the wiring was all torn and broken physically.
This laptop is not having the same problem. I look to see the wiring is perfectly intact. I have been able to fix this problem temporarily...all I do is restart, open/close the monitor randomly, change the orientation of the screen...anything to turn the monitor off and then on again. It usually works after about 10 tries, then the monitor is perfectly fine.
As I am typing this post, my monitor works perfectly fine without any issues whatsoever. Sometimes all it takes is to open then close it then open it again, and the problem goes away. So i'm thinking it's a software/driver issue of some sort.
My model number is TX2-1020ca
Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is and how to fix it?
Thanks so much in advance everyone!

Plug it into an external monitor to see if the same thing results to see if its the graphics card. If it doesn't, a connection to your monitor could be loose or something. If the machine is still under warranty, I would probably give HP a call and tell them about your problem.

I have been having a similar issue with my TX2, I just have a hard time believing it's the display cable already though. I have only had this one for about 4 months. I don't personally have the computer anymore (Sold it to a friend) but it was doing this just recently. It would only do it on extremely rare occasions. It did it maybe 3 times the entire time I owned the computer.
I'm thinking it's a BIOS issue, like the keyboard disabling itself when the tablet was switched into slate mode and then shut off. Maybe a new BIOS release in the future will fix it (it did seem to start when I updated to F14).
