Hi Guys and Gals,
Looking for any input on a problem I am having with a HP Pavilion Notebook,
Model dv9615ca, Vista Home Premium 32bit, 17" Widescreen, 2GB Ram, P4 Duo core 1.5g. Running the Intel Mobile 965 Chipset
Ok about a month ago shut the unit down during a storm. When it was turned back on the Vista Desktop was slightly enlarged and moved down and to the right. I could no longer see the bottom 1" of the desktop or the 1" of the right side. All the icons line up on the left side as usual but I can't see all of them. The background is shifted down and to the right. I have done the following thus far. The taskbar is not visible at all. I've also hooked this up to an external monitor and that works fine.
1. Uninstalled the current video drivers and downloaded and installed latest
2. Reconfigured Display properties to any size - no result
3. Went into BIOS setup and ran Diagostics, Mem check etc.
4. Went directly to Intel site and downloaded their newest 965 chipset drivers
Powered on and off of course. Now during the power up the HP logo is larger and moved to the right. A couple of times it came up correctly and Vista loaded ok and I could see the display properly. Did this 11 times then reset again to larger screen. The items on the desktop seem enlarged or zoomed a bit. Changing the screen resolution doesn't help or change a thing.
The only thing so far is that when I completely remove the intel 965 driver from the system and turn off the wireless ( so it doesn't go out and get it) Vista loads the standard VGA driver. At this time the desktop is shrunk and completely visible but still off center and to the right bottom.
So any ideas anyone?? All posts will be greatly appreciated and replied to.

Have you tried using an external monitor to verify how the display appears on it ??
Try booting into the BIOS with the HDD removed and see how the screen/display appears.
Also, try reseating the LCD Ribbon Cable.... -
Hi Andy,
Sorry I didn't put that in my post. I did hook up an external monitor and it works fine. Seems to find the monitor and adjust accordingly. I haven't tried the HDD drive removal and booting into BIOS yet but will. I will have a look at the ribbon cable as well. Thanks for the quick response. I'll let you know later today if any of this works.

Hi Gither,
Did you fix your laptop off center problem? I have a same problem, too. My laptop has the same video card. Can you tell me how to fix it if you know? Thanks a lot.
