    Hi,

I have a 17" ZBOOK Laptop with Nvida K610M. Is it possible to upgrade video card to K5100M N15E-Q5-A2 8GB GDDR5? Can i do this without vbios mod, ony by changing vendor for HP in *.ini file?
I konow that i'll have to buy better cooling fan for TDP 100W, and more powerfull DC Adapter.

    Thanks for response.

You should be able to get the parts from HP and then do the upgrade. It needs to be an HP K5100M as far as I know though, they tend to whitelist everything.

It needs to be an HP one? That makes it a lot more difficult to try to get a cheaper one off ebay.

I'm not 100% sure, but that used to be the case for previous Elitebook workstations.

Actually that's widespread confusion/misinformation. I've upgraded my 8740w with DELL (GPU and vBIOS) 7970m last week (you can check the 8740w Owners Lounge). It has some issues, but both the system BIOS and the vBIOS are old, so it could be related to that. Otherwise - Watch_Dogs @1920x1200@High :D Of course as with any other MXM - there is always risk of incompatibility, so get it with a returning option in mind. Good luck!

Elitebook don't have whitelist for GPU, as far as I read. I think current gen HP don't even have wifi whitelist.

I've not heard about any whitelists either however don't take my word for it as I've never owned one :)
