It should be possible. It has been done on the zv5000 series which is quite similar to the zx5000...

You may have trouble making it fit if the bezel is a curved one. Master/slave is also sometimes an issue. I would recommend an NEC drive like the NEC ND-6650 sold on NewEgg. They are the best laptop burners in my opinion and I think HP is using NEC drives. I replaced a combo drive with a burner on a Compaq Presario.

It is quite possible. I did it on my old zv5000. You just need to take the old drive out (undo two screws on the bottom and it will slide out - slide the new one in and put back the screws).
