wht's difference?

my friend told me that in antiglare LED (1920 x 1080) , display will be dull than another display though high resolution and antiglare..

is it true?

The 1366*768 display is nice if you're visually impaired and/or you never plan on using your laptop outside or in brightly-lit places.

Srsly the only good thing about 768p displays is that they don't put as much strain on the GPU if you game regularly. Glare is supposed to make colors more vivid but I'll take the versality of matte displays instead anyday as far as I'm concerned. And I'm pretty sure the HP 1080p display is supposed to have much better contrast anyway.

 

I have a hp dv6qe with a 1080 matte screen.

It's probably the best upgrade there is. I do some very light gaming so I don't see any hits in frame rates.

The matte IMHO is better for movies since it doesn't function as a mirror in the darker scenes. There's also better viewing angles and color gamut as well.

 

You should definitely take the 1920x1080 display. In most cases would never recommend buying a DV6 with the 1366x768 display.

15.6" 1366x768 displays make things onscreen huge and tend to have horrible image quality. I don't recommend 15.6" 1366x768 displays to those who have a budget to get a laptop that has a better display and at the same time suits their needs.

The 1920x1080 display is by no means dull compared to the 1366x768 display. Its higher contrast, smoothness, and brightness make it the superior option in terms of picture quality.

Games should not be a reason to choose a 15.6" 1366x768 display instead of a 15.6" 1920x1080 display. It is a common but unfortunate misconception. You can run in non-native resolution, and despite the blur that results from running in a non-native resolution, the inherently better contrast and overall image quality of 15.6" 1920x1080 displays tends to outweigh that and typically results in games looking better running on the 1920x1080 displays in 1366x768 non-native resolution than they'd look running on 15.6" 1366x768 displays in native resolution.

It's supposed to, but in the case of a 15.6" 1366x768 glossy display and a 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display, but the vast difference in contrast changes that. I've also seen both the matte and glossy versions of the LG LP156WF1, and think the matte version looks better.

 

Matte really has nothing to do with dullness or brightness of the display. I much prefer it, basically filters out background light and reflections. Glossy displays just make up for poor brightness and contrast in displays. Having used/seen the 1366x768 vs 1080p screens side by side, and owning the 1080p HP screen myself, I can say it is a far superior screen outside of resolution.

Most games scale well down to 720p on a 1080p screen, although there are exceptions where you will want to run games at native 1080p, like BF3 IMHO, looks so much better at 1080p.

 

1366x768 on 15" needs to die a horrible death.

 

They should replace the mid-range models with 1600x900 resolution at the very least.
That would probably be a way better option instead of the 'barely uprated' one they placed along with a better quality screen (which really isn't THAT expensive to make in the first place - manufacturers are just being cheap and play along the artificially inflated prices stupidity).

One of the problems in the industry with mobile gpu's power is the resolution they need to power.
At current 768p it's not necessary to have a high-powered gpu... for 900p though, you'd need a better gpu such as the 560m to be the 'mid-range' model.

 

Or you could just run at non-native resolution and still get a better quality picture because of the typically higher contrast of higher-resolution 15.6" LCD panels.

 

1366x768 is adequate for basic usage. I have the same panel in my HP Pro Book and it works just fine for MS word, or surfing the web.. Basic work stuff. Not a great screen, just average.

Now, i have a 1080p in the Alienware and its Spectacular. But again, HP doesn't have the most powerful GPU options, so for gaming, even on a 1080p, you will want to scale it back to 720P to run any sort of frame rate.

If i were going to do it over, i would have bought the 1080p for the probook.
