    Hey there,

I have a six-year-old HP dv2007ea with Win XP SP3 and I've recently acquired a 128 GB Samsung 830 SSD for it. Unfortunately, getting the drive to boot properly seems to be impossible.

I've done a clean install with Win XP CD to which I've slipstreamed the latest SATA driver (chipset Nvidia Nforce 430/410). The alignment has been fixed with the help of Minitool Partition Wizard: the partition starting offset changed from 32 256 bytes to 1048 576 bytes in the process.

The system works OK as long as I don't have to restart the computer. Then I get a flash of BSOD saying unmountable_boot_device, followed byt the the dreaded " Disk read error - press Ctrl+Alt+Del" -message. Only after six to ten reboots I might get Windows to start.

I've tried all kinds of stuff to fix it but I'm not getting anywhere, so all help would be appreciated. The BIOS is of no use since it offers no info or settings to work with. Also, the laptop has a SATA (1) bus but no AHCI to my knowledge.

I do have a handful of screenshots from the system, I could post them here if you wish.
