I just installed two of these,
2 4787509 DDR2 1GB PC5300 SO-D PA SPEED 667MHz NOTEBOOK ME
...from outpost.com in my laptop.
My computer is the HP dv2000t with this crap:
- Genuine Windows XP Home Edition
- Intel(R) Core(TM) Solo processor T1350 (1.86 GHz) (is this the problem?)
- 14.1" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
- 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200
- HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone
- 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (2x256MB)
- FREE Upgrade from 60 GB 5400 RPM to 80 GB 5400 RPM
- DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Anyway, CPU-Z says it is in dual mode under channels, so that seems swell. But it also says it is 533mhz speed which isn't. What is up with this?
Also, I cannot find any info anywhere for this ram, Patriot model# PSD21G66781s , the S is the key. Maybe it means screwed, who knows.
Can anyone give me an opinion on what is happening or how horrible the purchase is a just made or something? They were only 60 bucks shipped for both...I suppose maybe I didn't look hard enough.
I am using it right now, and it seems fine...
Edit: I just found some info on psd21g66781 , with no s. It says it is dimm, not so-dimm, not much help.

Yeah the problems with your CPU. It has a FSB(front side bus) of 533mhz so i believe the ram will downclock itself but i dont know for sure.
Also i doubt most people will notice the difference between 533mhz and 667mhz. -
Thanks! That sounds right. Now the question is where do I find a cheap processor?
Is this ram especially bad or what is the story? I find no info whatsoever of it on the internet.
Also, having 667 ram downclocked to 533, will there be a significant hit to performance due to latency issues? -
you have look at the chip of the ram
expample:
Then you google the chip(in this case DHNHL).
There will be a difference but you probably wont notice it(you should however notice the benefit of going from 512mb to 2gb. -

Note that by upgrading the CPU you are most likely going to void your warranty. However since you only have a single-core processor, getting a dual-core one would give you a nice overall performance boost, and you'll notice the difference if you multitask often.
I would definitely suggest upgrading the RAM first. See the RAM DEALS thread.
