please help. i have called hp & chatted with 6 people and no-one knows anything! i want to upgrade both hard drives on my dv9230us notebook. the pin configuration looks proprietary but everyone at hp insists they do not use proprietary hard drives. i would love to upgrade to two seagate 5400.3 160gb hard drives. i ordered a pair of toshiba drives but they did not fit properly. the pin configuration is weird. it has 22 pins with 7 pins on the left, a small gap followed by 15 pins. please help.
regards,
arthur

I'm not sure what type of hd's they are, by just a pin configuration. Look at the hd's and google the model #s. You should be able to determine what they are and what you can upgrade them with.

theyre SATA drives but HP uses an adapter/drive caddy to plug them in. what u have to do is remove the caddy from the old drives and put them in your new SATA 2.5" drives.
FYI if HP support was a suicide hotline, everyone who called would wanna kill themselves afterwards lol -
You are so smart SideSwipe! I just removed the funny pin adapter. I never would have guessed. Thank you Skibums for your input as well. I will use that suggestion in the future. Thank you both, have a large week-end! Cheers.
