At random, while typing on the keyboard of my dv9810us, the keyboard randomly repositions my cursor, usually a few words or sentences back and I end up typing over already typed text; or when filling in forms it tabs back to a different field; windows close, etc., etc., etc. I have seen a lot of posts here about problems with the Pavilion keyboards. Everything is fine when I hook up an external USB keyboard; it's only when typing on the laptop's own keyboard that I have problems. It defeats the purpose of having a laptop when you have to always hook up an external keyboard - I can't use it on my lap!!!

I was unable to find a good answer to this problem - is there something I missed?

When that happens to me (not an HP though), it's because my wrist brushed the touchpad which interpreted the contact as a mouse click. Do you have tap-to-click enabled?

Are you sure your not accidentally hitting the "home" and "end" keys? or your palm rubbing the touchpad?

This used to happen to me when i got my dv6000 back after a few months the lower part of my thumb would touch the touchpad when i went for the space bar and it would cause it to jump back to earlier in the sentence where ever the mouse was its pretty annoying. A good way to test is to turn off the touchpad and type to see if it still does it then you have a whole diffrent problem on your hands if it dosent well thats also great.
