I bought a Battery For HP Mini 5101 from US in April .I had the common problem of charger being plugged in but not charging, I tried all the reboot and tapping the power button etc, etc... None worked, so as long as the computer worked when plugged in I carried on, until now. It has completely died on me now, so help..

Probably the power adapter or jack is broken, hopefully it is not a more complicated issue like on the HP dv1000.

What does your battery diagnostic say? That would be the first place I'd look for battery problems.

The power supply/adapter seems to be the culprit from what you described. Test it with a multimeter. This is your first step when you're dealing with power problems. The power jack could be the 2nd failure IF the power adapter passes the voltage present test which I highly doubt.

Krane: the laptop doesn't start period, you cannot check anything. Battery's dead because the power supply's dead. I serviced a similar HP laptop before.

Okay wait. You worded that badly. The adapter would be dead component, not the battery. The battery would merely be drained because it wasn't being charged. Therefore, it would be your "power adapter" that is bad. Right?
