I've been comparing and searching for an SSD for my mini for days now, and I just stumbled on this site, thank goodness! After looking at countless online stores at SSDs and comparing their manufacturer specs, and searching with no luck for anyone who has upgraded the HD in my netbook, I found the 1.8 zif pata SSDs thread on here, which began a whole new session of SSD education for me.
I'll try and keep this short: HP mini 1035NR, running Windows XP, upgraded to 2GB RAM, original 60GB 4200rpm HDD. Judging by the SSD comparison, I'm considering either the Mtron Mobi 3000 SLC drive or the Renice K3VLAR-E drive.
The way I see it:
Mtron: faster, SLC reliability, consumes more power.
K3VLAR-E Pros: relatively slower, consumes less power.
I believe no trim support for the K3VLAR is not an issue since I run Win XP and have no intentions of upgrading. Also, the price difference and storage size are not of concern to me.
What UDMA is my netbook? If it is only UDMA2, I am assuming the difference in drive speeds is irrelevant considering they will both be maxed out?
I find that the more I learn, the more confused I get. With that said, I place my decision in the hands of the experts here and really appreciate any insight you all can provide!
Thanks,
Jacob
