Hi people, just a quick question.
I have an HP nc8430 w/ a T7200 cpu and a 512MB RAM (single DIMM, DDR2 667MHz). I've got a spare 1GB DDR2 800MHz stick (PC2-6400?) and I'm unsure about installing it.
I just want to know,
a) if the fact that it's of a different brand (samsung vs apacer) should cause problems
b) whether a .5/1 gig combo (1.5GB total) is a bad idea
c) and VERY importantly, whether the mobo supports this thing (the HP site listing possible options doesn't list 800MHz ones, got confused)
So yeah, three questionsI've read some bad stuff about mixing different types (or even brands!) of RAM and I really don't want to damage the laptop in any way. Seeking some advice. Thanks in advance.

A) It won't matter.
B) That is fine as well.
C) It supports DDR2. Any RAM designed for 800MHz or greater will downclock to 667MHz. -
Hey, that was quick! Glad to know. Thanks
(Just got confused with some people saying some really horrible stuff about this.) -
Let me know if you need anything else. I used to own the nc8430.
