    Hello !

    I have a new HP dv6000.

The in-built mic is off poor quality so I plugged in my headset which has a mic attached, this is a good headset that works perfect on my XP system.

I plug into this notebook which is running Vista, it says "audio jack detected" - But does not work.

I downloaded/installed the latest drivers from real tek. Nothing.
I spoke to HP , we tried a few things. Nothing.
They suggested I download the latest drivers from HP site for my notebook. Still no change.

They won't send a technician even though it's warranty. They will however, service it if I take it to their repair centre (about 50 miles away...)

    Has anyone got any suggestions???

P.S When I insert it the inbuilt mic switches itself off.

Hm?Device manager simply tells me I have Realtek High definition audio.

I'm really not sure of the details of my sound card.
