I'm considering upgrading the CPU and RAM in my HP nx6125. I currently have an AMD Turion 1.6 GHz processor and 1 GB of DDR 333 RAM.

The processor socket for the AMD processor is socket 478 and the processors I was looking at were socket 775. A friend of mine said that some motherboards have multiple sockets, so I was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny that or could lead me to where I could find details about my motherboard.

I saw a thread about RAM in an nx6125 and saw that the DDR 333 RAM could be replaced with DDR 400 RAM and the new RAM would run at DDR 400 speeds. Does anyone know about if I replaced it with faster RAM, say DDR 667 or DDR 800, would it run at those speeds or is it limited to DDR 400?

I'm sorry...but that is a load of crap. A PC only has one type of socket, and laptops definitely would as space is limited inside.

At best, you are limited to DDR400. 667 and 800 speeds are DDR 2 only...and DDR2 is not compatible with DDR notebooks.
