I recently bought a used HP DV6 and reinstalled windows 7x64 ult sp1 onto the laptop and loaded the drivers. But I noticed something different when I went to start the webcam it would open the webcam application but the image I saw was kinda fuzzy and not very clear but you could see there was a image of me on there but wasn't clear or visible but there was a ghost like image of me on there. Is this a indication the webcam is bad or a bad wire? I did update the bios as well and downloaded the latest HP drivers for it. I have a dv4 and dv5 and both their webcam work and are clear and visible you can see me the person on the otherside of the webcam but the dv6 does show image but like it is a blurred image and not visible. I was thinking of ordering a webcam and trying that to see if that was the problem or switching my dv4 or dv5 webcam but I looked at the service manual and they give different part numbers so that swap I don't think will work. Or if anyone else knows of another program to run the webcam to test whether it is a bad webcam or wire connection or bad wire?

Could you post a screen capture? Also, make sure the "lens" is clean and unobstructed.

ok I try to get a windows 7 screen shot later this week and post it but I think it could be a bad webcam and or cable...but it does not say something like it doesn't detect or anything like that when I installed the hp webcam software.

I order another webcam with the same part number and replaced the webcam and the replacement works so I think the webcam hardware was bad. So now I got a working webcam.
