I have this pretty old hard drive that is used daily, and got thinking that this drive is like 6-7 years old, and still gives 55+MB/Sec transfer. The hard drive has been on/used for years, and has Always ran cool. It comes back as having no bad sectors when running an error scan, and has never gave me an issue. But can i keep trusting this drive? Info below. Thanks.

never 'trust' a drive, even a brand new one.
Drives are mechanical, high-stress devices. For every user who has trusted their drives and survived, there is another who has had 100% data loss.
Do your backups. -
i would do backups at least once a month.. although its recommended to do it once a week.. my drive is only 1-2 years old so not very likely to fail...

If it lasted this long, odds are it will keep running for years to come. The period between 1 and 2 years is when they seem most vulnerable.
As mentioned though, back up, back up, back up.
You never know when they will go.
Especially S.M.A.R.T., out of several hundred drives I have replaced, only twice did smart predict failure ahead of time. I was better at predicting failure than it was just based on minor glitches, data loss and noise. Old trusted drives are as good as gold.
