Whats are the limits for hard drive capacity on a large 17 inch E1705? The customization options allow for a 250gb, but i dont think i want to spend that much initially...so would it be feasible to buy a 250gb(or larger if possible) from Western Digital and do an aftermarket upgrade? And is an aftermarket upgrade hd usually as reliable as the preinstalled one? Also i dont want an hd that creates massive heat.

There are various makes of 250GB HDD either here or imminent. Based on this review of the WD 160GB HDD I would be cautious about buying WD. I have just ordered a Samsung HM250JI which should be available in Europe within a few days and Fujitsu 250GB HDDs are also imminent. If you are concerned about heat and noise, look at Samsung and Fujitsu. They may not be at the top on performance, but tend to be low noise and power. More at Tom's Hardware.

At that tom's hardware, the highest i see is 160gb...i still cant find a place to actually buy a 250gb 2.5inch though, even on the dell website they dont have one...

And the samsung website is so horribly designed ill never find one there... :(
