I want to upgrade the hard drive in my Macbook and I was looking at either a Seagate Momentus 5400 PSD Hybrid 160Gb or a Momentus 7200.2. 200Mb. Does anyone have any comments on which one would be the best.

yeah! we are speed freaks :D :p :)

Bu mind you a 7200rpm hdd will reduce battery life, only slightly. But I still love mine :)

Wouldn't the 256Mb of flash memory make the Hybrid disk faster on some things?

Its only 256mb...so the difference wont be significant.

the flash space is really only useful for applications that are constantly being used. if you change from program to program then it wont make much difference. All it does is buffer, and clearly it needs to buffer the correct info to work properly. This is still very infant tech and I personally wouldnt touch it. Go with the 7200 read speed. much better, however if you went for a 240GB drive head for the 5400 speed. The device doesnt have to move as far to reach the data as the platter is larger so therefor the speed is then outweighed
