    Hi there
Got anXPS M1530 with a 250 GB HD at 5400rpm. What brand /model is it?
I want to upgrade to a 7200rpm drive. What should I get? Is Dell using the Seagate Momentus for this laptop?
    thanks

It is most likely a seagate momentus or a wd scorpio.
You can check, by right clicking the harddrive icon, and going into the hardware tab.
It will tell you the model of the drive.
Simply type that number into Google, and you will find what drive it is.

Or you can simply remove the harddrive and physically look at the label.

You will not notice much of a speed increase if you jump from the 250gb 5400drive to the 200gb 7200rpm drive. Dont waste your money, the 250gb 5400rpm drive is fast enough for most users.

If the system is running slow, go to teh run command, and type in MSCONFIG.
Shut off all background processes and programs from the start up menu and services menu which you are not using. This way you wil have faster boot and loading times, cause their will be less programs trying to utilize the systems resources.

Thanks for the answer. Well I'm planning on running studio audio applications (which are resource hungry) and also Windows Server Standard for development. Is there a comparison benchmark chart I can check out between the Momentus 5400rpm and the 7200rpm?
