I have a 3 yr old inspiron E1505, came with fujitsu mhv2060bh HDD installed, (specs here http://193.128.183.41/home/v3__product.asp?pid=474&inf=fsp&wg=15) I would like to replace with any of these

    Hitachi 320GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - 5400, 8MB, SATA
    Western Digital Scorpio 320GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - SATA-300, 5400, 8MB, OEM
    Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 320GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM

I would like to use the travelstar, but I am not sure if I should take into account the Data buffer size (My old one has 8MB Data Buffer).

Any Recommendations? Ive came across prices from 85-70 dollars from Tiger, if you know of anywhere else i could buy from feel free to tell.

You can use any SATA or SATA2 2.5" HDD. The buffer size does not matter. Don't really have any recommendations; some 7200RPM drives may suffer from excess vibration, though I don't really know how common that is.

    ^^^

I dont have any more viberation on my 7200rpm compared to my last 5400rpm. Its a Fujitsu HDD though.

My dads WD is a 7200 that doesnt have too much viberation, but a little bit. I wouldnt call it excessive though. ;)

Like I said, I don't really know how common it is... but once in a while you get a post like, "Oh, my laptop is humming under the left palmrest" or something and the fix turns out to be swapping the HDD. Yeah, maybe it's pretty rare, but it definitely seems to happen.

Yep, I understand. It does happen. They seem to be getting a little better every release with making them quieter and smoother. :)

Thanks for the info, Im pretty sure I'm gonna settle with the Travelstar, Just checking though, will I have to open up the old hard drive and replace the disk with the new HDD, or does It come in a universal enclosure that fits in the bay?

If your computer requires an HDD caddy, you will have to remove the caddy from the old drive and attach it to the new drive. Unless, of course, you buy your new drive from your notebook manufacturer.
