has anyone had to recover data from a hard drive that failed or blew up or water damage of any kind..etc...
-
Which is it? Are we talking about platters won't even spin casing trashed?
-
There are companies that you can send the harddrive and a large wade of cash to get most of the data back, but generally you won't recovery much if anything yourself.
-
my HD is fine..not talking about for me. just wondering for future reference. is there anything you can buy to get data off yourself?
-
No it will most likely need to be proffesionally done, depending on what happened to it.
If all else fails, try the freezer trick -
I am not very knowledgeable on this but if the problem is directory structure went bad so can not function. Software programs can read as raw data to try and reconstruct. If damage is physical, HDD no longer physically functions. No home cure. Back to the guys and bring your wad of cash. If primary enclosure or mechanisms fail reseating in new primary enclosure would not be a home option.
Hard drive question..just a thought..
