    Hi everyone,

I bought a new lifebook N6410 with the 320GB stock hard drives @ 4200rpm's, as that was what it came with. I need faster drives for Video editing so I bought 2 100GB Hitachi TravelStars @ 7200 rpm (SATA). Then my friend told me to s**** MCE as well, so I am doing a fresh install to XP pro SP2, the OEM version.

According to Fujitsu, I have to use the Drivers and applications DVD to load the SATA drivers and I got a email saying how to do this with a USB floppy.

Has anyone out there done this on a brand new 6410 yet?

I might sell the 2 4200 hard drives or I might use them for an external SATA raid and video storage device. Anyone tried that yet???

Well for this project I went all out and also bought a copy of Sony Vegas +DVD 6.0 and it comes bundled with an ADS Mpeg hardware converter.

Don't want to think about the price right now, but any advice or suggestions on swapping the drives, loading XP Pro, and then where to put the video editing Suite would be appreciated.

Then I am mainly going to record TV shows off of RFD TV from the 60's (BLuegrass/Country stuff) and also make DVD's of old music videos. Not much Holloywood stufff but I did want a PRO video editing package.

Vegas will slow down the video in sync with the Audio, or so I have been told by the sales rep. If anyone knows about that I would appreciate it.

I basically want to figure out how to slow down a video and sync the audio to the speed of the video playback. WHy???

If you were a banjo player of fiddle player you would understand!

Great forum here and I have learned a lot just by reading other threads.

Just a note to anyone interested in this thread, Pleasefeel free to comment on the hard drive swap, the OS install, or the video editing stuff individually as I doubt anyone will be an expert in all 3 areas.

    Excuse my spelling errors also!

I have 2GB of RAM, and the T2300 Duo core incase you were wondering about that part of the equation.

A great site for Video stuff is Videoguys.com if anyone is interested in the Vegas editing software. I went with SOny as they also have Audio packages I can integrate with the video software.

    Hope I get some replies!!!

Update: This is my first post, and from reading other threads in this forum, maybe it covers too many topics at the same time.

I think I will divide my topics up individually and see if that works better than the shotgun approach...

Especially as far as the banjo and fiddle videos, that is probably a very small audience indeed! I'm not talking deliverance here, mostly musical performance tapes I made of great bluegrass bands like Jim and Jesse, the McCoury's, The Johnson Mountain Boys, etc...

I suppose that gets off topic real quick and I should be in a Bluegrass forum for all that.

It also puts me into the Video editing category as well, so that is why I think I will split these ideas up into subgroups.

And feel free to comment on how to post topics in the forum as well, as I am new to this stuff.

This is all about learning, and not messing up your notebook in the process!
