Hey guys, I bought an HP notebook (dv2612ca) about a year ago and the hard drive it came with is failing. It's making clicking noises every now and then (that last for about a minute each time) and when it happens, the entire computer freezes, NOTHING is useable (even the caps lock light doesn't work sometimes). Sometimes it starts working again, other times I will not load and I am forced to plug the power. I think it's safe to say my hard drive is screwed. My only problem is that the laptop is out of warranty and I'm wondering if the hard drive itself (it's a Fujitsu) has a warranty that I can claim. If so, how long is the warranty, and how easy is it to get them to replace my hard drive? Is it a quick phone call, wait a week and the new one is here, or is it, call, wait on the phone for a few hours, send mine away, wait a month, they tell me it's fine, send it back, or some screwed up situation. Basically it's either this, or use my warranty that I have with Visa. Is it easy dealing with Fujitsu?
Sorry about the long post guys, thanks a lot in advance.

If its the original drive, its OEM, and its warranty and all is covered by HP. Since the notebook's warranty has expired, so has the HDD's..
Try backing up your data, if you have any....and get a new HDD.
Fujitsu, is a dead company anywayz. -
Oh...okay then. So when you say dead company, I guess WD took over Fujitsu already?
I guess I can still use my warranty with Visa? -
I meant Fujitsu's HDD business is dead. Its been sold to Toshiba.
I doubt you'll be able to get the HDD replaced, because the notebook's warranty has expired, but you can try out the Visa or whatever it is.... -
Didn't Western Digital buy them out? That's what I'm seeing ALL over the internet. But I also see that Toshiba bought them. Oh well, I'll try Visa. Supposedly they extend my warranty coverage an extra year.
