    Hi there,

I'm new to this forum, so please don't get mad if i'm posting the wrong group.

I recently took my dell inspiron 8600 apart. Accedently i broke the print that controls all the buttons under the screen. Including the most important power button..

I'm trying to solve this just by mounting a new power buttom, but it ain't as easy i as thougt.

I've tried to just jump some of the connector at the connector, but can't get the maschine running. Anyone having a solution to get my dell back up and running?

Yes you can. If I was you I would just order the ribbon cable from DELL and be done with it.
    Good luck

Sounds like the best solution. I tried to measure the voltage between the pins, but my big stick connected to pins - right away the laptop started.. So far i found out that pin 2 and 3 is the power button, my laptop is now alive, but only with this little trick.
Do you know where and how to order the ribbon cable?

I have a Dell 8500, which uses the same cable, and you are basically screwed. You have to buy a new cable, unless you can manage to solder each of the very small wires back together.

I will link you to a new one:
You will have to send them an email, to see if it comes with the ribbon cable underneath the bezel

Good luck, I hope you can get it to work.
If you need a picture of what it should look like, tell me and I can take a picture of mine.

    Thanks.

I just need the laptop to turn on and off. Anyone who know where to get just the connector?

I doubt you will be able to buy just the connector. You will probably have to buy the whole front bezel in order to get the part you are looking for.

Good luck man, it doesnt look that broken, so maybe you can do some solder work to get it working.
