You might need to upgrade your BIOS friend.

Looks like bad sectors. Run diskcheck or whatever it is and see if it can fix them or at least move data off the bad sectors.

Do a defragmentation of your HDD while you are at it. It speeds things up.

I think the priority right now is to get data off the bad sectors and run a pass through checkdisk.

how would i know what data is on the bad sectors, and i freaking hate vista built in defragger, it doesnt tell you what percent its on and estimated time. Whats the best free defragger program that works like the old xp defragger which btw is 10x better.

Run diskcheck, it'll fix the immediate problem. Don't worry about defragmenting (until later), definitely don't change your bios.

Windows one is very respectable. Otherwise you can try the Norton one!

When I used to run Vista, I ran IObit Smart Defrag as my primary defrag application. However, Vista's defrag is nothing to hate; I think it still does the job better than Smart Defrag, except it doesn't show you it's progress. Now that I use Windows Seven, I just use the native defragger as Microsoft has restored the progress display.

Back up all of your data.

Again, defragmenting isn't going to help with bad sectors. Backup your data if you can, and run chkdsk. Later when you do defrag try degraggler or jkdefrag.
