Sooooo we all know that hardrives especially the 3TB drives have exploded in price. The 3 TB drives were as low as $120 on sale at one point (5400rpm) and ~$150 for 7200 rpm if you shopped around on newegg before the flooding and tsunami accord. Does anyone know when they will return to these prices and then start their drop below those prices? How far set back are we in tech/prices? and for how long? shesh. Also are there any new hardrive capacities coming out that will help?
Second thing why isn't there a sticky for current events in this forum for hardware prices. Like currently X and X event have caused hardrives to explode in prices. Event Y and Y have caused RAM to slightly rise and EX expert and EX member believes it'll be at least this long before supply returns to normal and prices drop according to XY news.
This would be great current even information for tech people to have access to and solve lots of questions. Than techtarget/notebookreview can tout that around as their little special thing that no one else has.

I got a 1.5tb on a black Friday sale for $70, but I haven't seen them for that low since then. They do seem to be on their way down, though, I think I saw a 2tb for $100 recently, which is much less than what they were going for in Oct-Nov.

I think it will be some time until prices drop back down to their previous lows. Hard drives are quite a ripoff at the moment.

its a good time for the manufacturers and retailers to make the most of a bad situation. Unfortunately that is the sad state of affairs in this world.
People always use miserable times to make more money. I also appreciate that they need to reap back money to recover from the damages, but why do they seem to rip off consumers? -
Always brings me to the 486 I owned and a 350MB hard drive cost like $500. The good old days. Back on topic, 3TB (Caviar Green) for $173 has been the best I've seen lately.
