I have an internal hardrive that had to be replaced, it's not physically damaged or anything of that sort.

I have a new hardrive from Dell already installed but I want to know if theres some program I can put onto my external hardrive, plug my external into my USB, put in my non-working drive and boot the software from my external drive to recover the files and copy them onto the external.

That should make sense. Please let me know, thanks.

You can purchase a USB enclosure for your laptop hard drive. You can then connect this to a USB port and extract your files onto the new hard drive or your external hard drive.

Note: You will not be able to move installed programs in this manner.

You will need a USB enclosure for a 2.5" SATA hard drive.

After extracting all your files, you can then format the entire hard drive and have a second external storage solution.

Someone should make a software that you can boot from your external hardrive by pressing F12 at the menu. Or is that not even possible?
