The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Hardware is beeping on occasion

    There is a beep every week or so coming from my Dell notebook. Sometimes I am not even at the keyboard when it happens. It is definitely not a Windows beep. It sounds like it is coming from a piece of hardware.

    It is loud and lasts about 1 second.

    There is a thread on this board about a similar issue. There are 10 pages of responses with still no conclusion what exactly it is.
