My Dell Latitude D800 monitor is flashing RGB colors. (Red, Green, Blue, Grey and Black) The only way I can use it, is to plug up a monitor to it.
The problem started after I bought a new monitor, and used my notebook to test it out, before I set it up on my desktop. I ran dual-monitors w/XP and it work perfectly fine, and all of a sudden the flashing began.
Is the monitor fried??????

I would try reinstalling the video drivers, and see if that fixes the problem. Go to Dell's support website and put in your service tag, it will give you a list of drivers.
Use this guide here to do it properly:

wow, that's a wierd problem. if it works fine on an external monitor, that says it's not a video chipset problem nor a graphics driver problem. i suppose it could be a driver problem for the lcd itself, but do lcds have drivers? it can't be the inverter, because you're seeing colors, nor can it be the screen itself because it's displaying something also. wierd problem, my friend. wiiiiiiierd problem.

I've actually tried re-installing the drivers, and that didn't work.
The thing that's really killing me is that the (fn+f8) display switching function isn't working at all, except for a little flicker as I hit the keys.
drag: I totally agree and even more, embarrassed to say I work in IT ;-( -
It should not relate to the driver if it doesn't fix. The hardware problem is more than a software problem in this situation. If the flashing RGB colors is a main issue, might be the wire inside is not solid or LCD panel is defective. You must bring it to them for service.
Has my laptop monitor failed???
