    Hi,
So I I have a WD Red 3TB I pulled from an WD MyBookLive Enclosure.
Upon connecting the drive to a USB 3 HDD Dock, I can see the drive in disk management.
The Sabrent dock is running latest firmware and can recognize HDDs upto 8TB so no problem there.

U can see from pics. it's appearing as Disk 5 with 2 un-allocated spaces.
The one on left can have a New Simple Volume when i right click it. The options for the one on right are all greyed out.

Any idea how I can combine these 2 un-allocated spaces and make them into single volume?

    Thanks

Basic discs can be only 2TB. Convert to GPT to access full space.

    Geronemo,

Borrow a desktop, use a Windows USB installer and format it at Windows Setup, Advanced. Make sure you pick the right drive. ;)

Thanks. Is there is difference formatting in Disk Management vs. while running windows setup?

Thanks a lot. I used Ease partition manager free version to convert it to GPT and it worked in like 1 min...lol :)

When you can't format in Disk Management (as in your situation - before you used the free partition manager) - doing it from an Windows install USB key will work. ;)

Will windows setup automatically create GPT discs out of 2TB+ sized drives? I don't see formatting being the problem but accessing full three terabytes as a single drive. Am I right?
