    Isn't it plainly obvious to you that an HD 5870 is going to be too big, and too hot to put into a 14" chassis with a cooling system designed for a thin and light?

    Another thing you need to consider is the heatsink. Different cards need different heatsinks. Unless the upgrade is available for that particular model from the manufacturer, then it's a crap shoot.

    To summarize, you will not be able to upgrade the GPU in laptops. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but no laptop will be able to go from a low/medium end one to a high end one.
