After an issue with my Windows 7 installation I decided to look into the health of my hard drive. I ran SEATOOLS on it and it passes the S.M.A.R.T scan but it fails the extended test due to bad sectors. If I were to run a low-level format would it fix that issue?

I am surprised it has any errors actually because I've always used HP's hard drive protection software where it parks the heads when the accelerometer senses movement.

If I were to continue to use it after the low-level format (writing 0s), how long do you think it would last? Thanks.

When a HDD starts going flakey, it is time for a new one.

How long will it last? One year, one week, one month or one second... (you roll the dice and take your chances...).

A new HDD is ~$50 - small price to pay for a little reassurance (from a known 'bad' drive).

    Good luck.
