Just pick one up from Newegg. The Overpriced crap from best buy is, like I said, Overpriced crap. I got the same cable they were selling for 50 dollars for 15 on newegg.

That's not totally true. Monster cables are a huge ripoff, but there are some higher quality cables. Try something kind of in the middle.

From what I've been able to determine, HDMI seems to be a pretty messed up standard. I believe it was adapted from computer display cable standards and isn't good for long runs. Google is probably your best place to start for general (and specific) HDMI info.

If you need longer runs of hdmi, check out Blue Jeans Cable (no, I'm not associated with them) http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm.

The stuff is bloody expensive but was the best compromise I could find for long runs.

< 15ft cables they all will have equal quality. Longer than 50ft then the expensive cables can be better.

Moral of the story, cheap ones (ie. 3 for 9 dollars like i picked up) work just perfect and you wont be able to tell the difference.

Guess how much the monsters were at best buy? 150 dollars. 50 On Newegg Last I checked. I purchased a 10' gold plated HDMI cable for use with my laptop, and it works wonderfully. I agree, the 3 dollar cables are useless, but the nicer 15 dollar ones work wonderfull.

you can just make them. really all you need are the two ends. male or female, or male to male, or female to female. You can buy the ends from Mouser electornics or digikey for about $.40 an end connector. Than simply solder on the wires to connect the ends and bam you are good to go. Thats what I do. I have a ~120ft hdmi cable running from my basement to my 2nd floor bedroom on the other end of the house. It cost me $4 with shipping and the wire is much better than any of the stuff you can buy at a store.

Make sure to use copper wire cause it carries a better signal than aluminum wire.
