what is the best heat sink compound for laptop video card?
where can i buy it?
Do i have to buy it online? can i get it from store like bestbuy or compUSA?
Thanks

Well, paste is the best to use. The best paste is Arctic Silver, and it performs very well and transfers alot of hest to the heatsink. However, some graphics cards use pads, as the distance from the core or memory chips is too large for paste to be effective. For that you will need to purchase those pads, but they are difficult to find.

I have applied AS5 onto a pad. Got some results.

CompUSA has Arctic Silver in-store if you don't want to buy online.

is it Arctic Silver 5? how much did u pay for it?
do u think they will have it in cali?
i think i'm going to go with Arctic Silver, anything else better than Arctic Sliver? -
It was $10 for the 3.5g syringe, which is basically the same price newegg has it for (plus shipping).
And yes, it is AS5.
If you don't want to use AS5, you could always go with Ceramique, which has a much smaller break-in period. -
Ceramique is also a very good product, often returning better results for less money.

From what I've read, AS5's 200 hour break in period means that's how long it takes for it's effects to be fully noticed as the product settles in. You can continue to use your notebook during this time.

Yep I got AS5 from Comp USA. It cost me about $15 I think. I have noticed a little drop in temperature for basic usage.

Unfortunately, I've never used Ceramique so I can't comment on its impact.
Just make sure you're applying it correctly, otherwise you'll get results opposite of what you're looking for. -
Sorry for the offtopic post.

what is that 200 hour mean? so i cant use my pc for 200 hours after i apply AS5? -
Don't ever mix pads and paste. Clean off one thoroughly before you apply the other. And put the paste on in a very thin layer, keep it as thin as you can while still allowing it to cover the entire chip.
And the "200 hours" is how long the machine will need to be running before it's as thermally efficient as it'll get. You can use it immediately after applying the paste, but you won't see full effect of the paste until after 200 hours of running.
