Ok I would have posted this in the Compal section but they are slow to post. I have my 160 gb hard drive, and have been trying to install it for some time. It says on it its serial ata, which is what the compal should take. But the connections dont match, wtf is going on????? The HDD has 2 rows of little prongs goin down the length of the hdd, but the connector for the compal is ma lot smaller, it looks like I might need a cable??? HELP!!!!

It doesn't sound like your hard drive is serial ATA.

That's an ATA connection on the hard drive.

You could probably return the other one and get a correct type.

Check to see if there's an adapter on your original hard drive that you can pull off. HP uses serial ATA hard drives but they use their own propriety adapter to connect the hard to the notebook.

    hah! How odd.

Take the drive already fitted out and see what connection the actual HDD has. You'll be able to see if there is an adapter or not.
