Ok I bought a t7700 for my vostro and i think i'm having heat/power/performance issues.

Problem #1: when i set power options to high performance, my CPU is overclocking. Yes, it's overclocking. It's rated for 2.4Ghz and while on high performance it will overclock to 2.6-2.7ghz. The problem with this is HEAT! It reaches 80c easy.

Problem #2: I can't set it to any % performance to get to to go up to 1800mhz (which should be 75%). It always goes to either 1100mzh or 1.5ghz which isn't fast enough for games and misc stuff running in the bakcground.

Problem #3: how do i set it so that temp is what limits the speed? Meaning how do i set it so it will decrease speed when temp exceeds 70c?

    Any advice is welcome.

If you're only using one core, that core will overclock itself automatically. And FYI, 80C is absolutely fine for that processor.

Try undervolting to keep it cooler.
I prefer RMClock, NHC also works too.

Like odin243 said, the overclocking is normal when the processor is using just one of the cores. NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) can be used to undervolt the processor, as allan_huang mentioned.
