I want to use the incredible OCZ Mini PCI-e SSD's in my Panasonic Toughbook CF-29, but my laptop only connects to 44-pin IDE PATA drives. Is there any way possible to connect OCZ Mini PCI-e SSD's to a 44-pin IDE cable??
Before you say, "buy a 2.5" PATA IDE drive with 44 pins" let me just say that after looking at the specs, the OCZ drives seem like the lowest power option for the speed that they provide. They just don't sell their SSD's in 44 pin PATA format!

Please give Panasonic a call in their customer service hotline! Ask to be escalated to their higher level technical engineers! Good luck mate!

your screwed...
and adapter probably wont fit in there..
also the max speed of Parralel ATA is 133mb...
so any ssd the uses pata or ide... will be crap...
like my ssd ... with hdtune can hit 180mbs...
now with windows xp... i cant pass 132.25mbs...
(cause i have to used ide emulation in my bios) -

Try a SuperTalent 32GB 1.8" ZIF SSD + 1.8-to-2.5" Adapter instead. Though you can see it has a voltage regulator to allow 3.3V operation so it will add some overhead. It's datasheet shows 0.18/0.55mA standby/active power consumption, which at 3.3V works out to be 0.0/0.18W. Ie: VERY low battery-life extending power consumption as shown to give very long battery life like in the MSI U115 netbook.
You might also want to have a go at plumbing in a SATA SSD if you have a bit of extra room for a sata-to-pata adapter. Consider this thread for some ideas. -
