Hello,
I just upgraded my Dell M6600 with a Crucial M500 240GB SSD, but I'm having problems reinstalling the video driver. I'm able to do a clean install of Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, and able to install the drivers that come with the M6600. When I get to the video driver (the Intel HD 3000 Graphics Driver) it causes windows not start up properly. Sometimes I get the 'blue screen of death'. Sometimes I get to the restore window, given me the opportunity to restore a previous point. Sometimes I get back prior to installing the video driver, most times it just loops from start up to the restore screen, then loops back again. This forces me to re-install windows again. I even tried the latest video driver from Dell. Same thing happens.
I've been working with a tech helping me with this problem, but so far no luck.
He did noticed that my BIOS is at A02. The current released BIOS is at A15. Maybe this is the problem, I believe I need to upgrade my BIOS so I can use the SSD and install the video drivers.
So, this is what happened. I downloaded BIOS A15, but it told me I needed to upgrade to A03 first when trying to load it. I then downloaded BIOS A03, but it told me that A03 was not compatible with my version of windows 7 (64 bit).
I tried installing the BIOS upgrade in both the windows environment and in DOS by opening a command window, but I get the same message.
Question: How do I upgrade from A02 to A03? And, will the BIOS fix my video driver problem?

I think you're finding out the hard way: update BIOS and all firmware (DVD, WiFi, etc.) components before installing new O/S.
To upgrade your BIOS safely, can you install the original drive + O/S and do it from there?
Help! Need to upgrade my BIOS on my M6600 so my SSD works.
