I recently bought an old laptop and I wanted to upgrade the memory

    Heres the Specs:
    Compaq Armada E500
    PIII 800mhz
    128mb PC100 (2 x 64mb)
    8mb ATI rage

My question is can I use PC133 instead of PC100?
    Im planning to buy (2 x 256mb).
Will it work if I use PC133 because the one that is installed on my motherboard is 128mb PC100.

Pls help me with this
    thank you very much....

Okay, here is the pdf of the information on your laptop:
    http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01152880/c01152880.pdf

On page 19 it states that the maximum system memory is 512mb, which is 2 x 256mb memory cards.

Installation of these memory cards is shown on page 107

    In this manual:
    http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01124713/c01124713.pdf

On page 108, it mentions that the system will only work with SDRAM.

Based on my knowledge, the pc 133 memory will work in your laptop, but I cannot guarantee it.
If your system uses pc100, than I would stick with pc100.
You may get an error code of beeps, if the pc133 is not supported.

    Good luck with the upgrade
You may want to upgrade the harddrive, if you plan on keeping the system. Chances are the harddrive is 2500, 3600 or 4200rpm.
