Hello All!!
I know I am probably going to get bashed for doing what I did but here goes...![]()
I took off the spacebar cover on my new MSI GS70 laptop computer because I read that putting some tape under the spacebar cover will fix the issue with missing keystrokes. I managed to get the entire cover off the keyboard by popping it off both the metal bars and the clips.
Here is a picture of where I am right now:

As you can see I put the tape and I am now ready to put the spacebar cover back on.
The problem I am having is I don't know what to do first or what to connect first. I also don't know whether I need to attach the two metal rods to the spacebar cover first, then insert it into the laptop or if I need to place the metal rods in their desired locations then try to snap the cover back on with the rods in place. I also do know if I need to do the same for the two clips on the left and right sides.
Here is a picture detailng the things that are required to be attached:

The red arrows point to the left and right clips and where they attach to the spacebar cover. The green arrows point to the two rods (the front rod is not visible in the picture but it's already there).
As you can see the left and right clips attach to the spacebar cover with 2 little "nubs" and the metal rods attach to the spacebar by snapping into little protrusions along the length of both sides.
Can anyone help me with putting the spacebar cover back on? What steps do I need to do and in what order?
Thank you very much.![]()
*UPDATE* I pretty much figured out how to do it... there is still one issue that I failed to mention in my original post.
The clips actually attach in 2 locations. There are little circles on the clips at both the part that hinges and the part that is firmly attached to the base of the laptop. My original image only pointed to the "nubs" on the hinge part of the clips.
The problem I am having is attaching the clips at both ends. Here is a picture to demonstrate:

As you can see from my little diagram there are two sets of hinge nubs (the blue circles). I can get attach the nubs on the part that hinges up because it's a few mms above the laptop base. I am having difficulty, however, attaching the nubs to the other side of the hinge because it's so close to the laptop base. Those little numbs are tricky to get into their holes. I had to put one in and use very small pliers to squeeze them so I could get the other one in.
Is there a way to remove the hinge from the laptop base altogether so that I can easly attach the nubs?

I used this video when I had removed my spacebar key to clean out some stuff that had gotten under it and was preventing it from getting pressed.
Your key might not be identical (mine wasn't - there were minor differences) but if you follow the same steps, it should work. -

Also it might be more worth just replacing the keyboard as those small plastic snaps can be broken easily if your not careful or have small tools with enough light and magnifying glass to see those small spaces.

It's been a while since this thread was created, but have you been able to work around the spacebar key issue? I am having the exact same problem with my MSI GS70 and MSI would not accept this as a failure. I would appreciate comments on how you or anyone has overcome this issue. Thanks!
