I recently purchased a crucial M4 128 GB ssd. I'm looking to do a fresh install through thinkpad's recovery disks. Any advice on how to do so? Thanks!

Depends on the recovery program the disk come with, some disks do not do "fresh install". You would probably want a OS disk.
