I am struggling to decide between these two, I would very much appreciate any help to decide as the VAT in UK is going up from Jan2010. Thanks.

    What is this drive for?
    A laptop or a Playstation?
I dont know if those harddrives have a firmware on them which will be compatible with laptops. They may be for PS3 only.
If its for PS3, I would go with the Hitachi. It is a single platter 250gb drive. Whereas the WD is a dual platter 320gb drive. The Hitachi has more capacity per platter 250 vs 160, thus the Hitachi will be slightly faster. More data density = more performance.

Before buying, contact Hitachi. Send them the link. They would be able to tell you whether or not the firmware will work in a laptop as well
