I have a 13 inch HP Dv3t with bluray drive and HDMI output.
    I have an optoma HD72 (720p) projector w/ 100inch screen.

    Problem.

My A/V receiver does not have an HDMI input. :(

So I need to connect my laptop to this receiver and get HD video output and (fingers crossed) 5.1 surround sound....

I am willing to purchase converters, cables, etc.. but im not buying a new receiver yet.

if the media is protected via HDCP (i.e., films on Blu-ray disc) you cannot send the data stream through an HDMI-to-component converter. there are grey-market devices that strip HDCP from input streams. i won't describe where to find these because i don't endorse piracy.
