    Hi
I am buying a new laptop and I have decided on the Asus A8Sc.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220287
I am mainly concerned with battery life.
Is there a higher capacity battery that I can buy?
I see a battery at newegg for the Asus A7. Will that fit in my Asus A8?

And if I do purchase this battery, how much of a difference in duration is it from the stock 6-cell battery?
Are there any other batteries I can purchase anywhere else?

    Thanks in advance.
    I appreciate any help.

I do not think that there is a larger capacity battery for the A8SC.

You cannot put the battery from the A7 into the A8SC.
The battery physically will not fit.

You can maximize your battery life by undervolting the processor, dimming the screen, and making a performance on demand battery profile with CPU Rightmark.

I do not know how long the battery lasts.

If you scroll down the page a bit, you will see a thread named ASUS.
I would look in there for someone who owns a A8SC, and I would PM them or ask all of your questions there.
Sometimes the best answers are from the users.

Check the asus website. Its all there for product # and which batterys are compatible

Asus batterys seem to be hard to get a hold off. I went to look for one for a friend and didnt get very far.

A Google search indicates that someone is actually offering an 8-cell battery for the A8SC.

    http://www.excaliberpc.com/ASUS_Notebook_Accessory_A8_Series/90-NF51B1000/partinfo-id-567194.html

It looks like, however, that it doesn't fit the same slot that the 6-cell battery would fit (looks like it would attach on the back, but there are no really good pictures of the A8SC around so I can't tell for sure) which means its either a secondary battery (not a primary like the seller claims) or just plain old doesn't work with the A8SC.

    Thanks for your response.
Yea.. it doesn't look like that battery will fit into the Asus A8Sc.
    Thanks anyways.

han310 I am confused please help clear up. You can get

    ASUS F8 Series F8SV-A1
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7500(2.20GHz)
    14" Wide XGA
    1GB+TM1GB Memory
    160GB HDD
    DVD Super Multi NVIDIA
    GeForce 8600M GT NoteBook

For $999, much better CPU, GPU, cost $55 to get up to 3GB RAM, OK HDD little smaller. If it is money fine I understand but then that brings this option up.

Open Box: ASUS A8 Series A8JS-4S024C
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz)
    14" Wide XGA+
    1GB Memory
    120GB HDD
    DVD Super Multi
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 NoteBook

For $599 Better CPU, GPU is about 150% more card than 8400m G and 8400m does not have the power to make good use of DX10 so that should not be an issue. Better screen resolution. $55 to get up to 3GB RAM. OK small HDD.

And if you want better battery life right now you could configure a DeLL Vostro 1400 for about $800 w/ T8300 2.1Ghz, 8400m GS, WXGA+,1GB RAM,200GB HDD, better battery life. Ugrade RAM to 3GB $55.
